We got great value for our money at Midtnes Hotel. The room was spacious and had a balcony with a stunning view of the fjord and the town church below. The location was perfect, just a short walk to town and close to hiking trails. The staff, especially the owner Jon, were incredibly accommodating and made us feel welcome with their Norwegian hospitality.
Breakfast choices could have been better with more variety.

Our stay at Midtnes was incredible! From the moment we arrived, we were treated with exceptional hospitality. The hotel's old world charm and stunning views made for a truly memorable experience. The comfortable and clean room provided a perfect retreat after a day of hiking. Breakfast was delicious and had something for everyone. Despite a minor inconvenience with the hot water, the overall quality of service more than made up for it. We highly recommend Midtnes Hotel for a relaxing and unforgettable getaway.

I had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The gentleman who helped me check in was top notch and also worked during breakfast, providing excellent service. The view from my room was simply amazing, overlooking the fjords. I loved the funky little elevator and the charming Victorian-style furnishings throughout the hotel. The breakfast was perfect, offering a variety of options. The hotel's location was ideal, just steps away from amazing hiking trails, a charming 19th century wooden church, good restaurants, and the ferry stop. Everything was easily accessible in this beautiful area.
Nothing bad to say.

If you come to Norway seeking the simple charm of a quiet Fjord village to refresh your spirit, then Balestrand is for you. My sister and I recently spent three days at Midtnes and found the simplicity of the accommodation and endearing Norwegian hospitality of the owner absolutely refreshing. The gorgeous Fjord views from our room were truly stunning and the quiet so palpable you wanted to conserve it for future use. The ample breakfast was lovingly prepared and beautifully presented with special touches such as candles and soft background music and served in the breakfast room overlooking the fjord. Beautifully appointed sitting rooms filled with vintage style furniture and large windows facing the fjord in addition to a lovely terrace with unbelievable views invited times for contemplation or curling up with a good book. Right next to Midtnes, the beautiful St.Olaf church built in 1897 in the style of the old Stave churches comes complete with a true historical story to discover. The walk to town is no more than five minutes. There are a number of hiking trails in the area, and the owner will be more than happy to point them out to you, but just a leisurely stroll passed the historical fjord side homes provided views you came to Norway to see. We will never forget the three days we spend in Balestrand and would wholeheartedly recommend a stay at Midtnes. You will not be disappointed.
Can recommend this hotel.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel. The breakfast was extensive, with a wide variety of options including juices, cereals, eggs, breads, meats. The coffee was wonderful too. The gentleman at the front desk was personable, kind, and enthusiastic. He even picked us up at the ferry terminal and provided great recommendations. We loved the fjord view from our upgraded room and enjoyed relaxing on the balcony. The hotel's location was convenient, with the ferry stop just a 5-minute walk away. The hotel facilities were great, including comfortable chairs in the room and plenty of seating areas in the lobby and historic house. The nearby 19th century wooden church was a must-visit.
No issues.
